"I became interested in painting flowers while working on
vast panoramic landscapes and noticing flowers at my feet. As I
brought them indoors and found interesting vases for them, I was
challenged by an entirely new set of painting problems. I am not
interested in rendering flowers but instead, capturing the quality
of light that illuminates them in space."

REVIEWS
"The light of these paintings imbue them with a mood of mystery
as the backgrounds recede into unfathomable space and the blooms
come forward with exaggerated intensity, as in a 17th century portrait"
—Resister Star, Hudson, New York
"Reitzfeld invites the viewer to simply come in and enjoy
the bounty" —Register Star, Hudson, New York
"Lucy Reitzfeld's unframed canvases capture a playful note
by placing as much (or more) emphasis on the vase as on the flowers" —Metroland,
New York
